Summary
An evening of three talks on AI in finance and economics, held in Chuo City, Tokyo. Matei P. Mihalca (Sakana AI advisor, Centro Ricerche Enrico Fermi) opens with a historical view of AI applied to finance and argues that complex-systems thinking should guide how AI is used in investment.
Albi Isufaj (SOKENDAI / NII) then presents a two-stage forecasting architecture in which a time-series foundation model makes directional predictions and a learned reliability layer decides which ones are worth acting on. Amin Debabeche (UBS Tokyo) closes with a survey of generative and agentic AI running in production at financial institutions, covering governance, latency and regulatory constraints.
Doors open at 18:00, talks run from 18:30 to 20:00, followed by an hour of networking.
