Summary
This is the first installment of an offline study session on startup capital strategy. Fundraising and stock option design are pivotal management decisions that shape growth and exit outcomes, and because they are hard to undo, getting them right early matters. Against the diversifying finance landscape of 2026, with tax reforms and new guidance to navigate, the session aims to build the ability to design the scheme best suited to a company's stage.
The first half covers fundraising: how to choose the most suitable method among diversifying schemes and the common pitfalls to avoid. The second half covers stock options, including the latest trends in incentive design that supports business growth. The instructors are lawyers Ryuichi Ito and Kohei Murayama of law firm ZeLo, who have extensive experience advising both issuing companies and investors.
The session runs from 19:00 to 21:00 at Tokyo Innovation Base (TIB), 1F SQUARE-2, with a talk session and Q&A followed by networking. It is aimed at startup executives and CFOs and those who want to build sound capital policy. TIB membership registration is required to attend.
