Summary
This is the prototype showcase by the first cohort of the "Modern-Day Tokiwaso" entrepreneur incubation program, run by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government as part of its support project for animators aiming at global careers. The program backs creators in anime and manga by providing a dedicated production space (Atelier Lab) inside the Tokyo Content Incubation Center (TCIC), training in digital skills and business knowledge, and matchmaking with content companies.
The first cohort, selected last October, will present the prototypes they built over roughly eleven months, followed by commentary from a panel. The keynote is given by Taiki Sakurai, anime producer, screenwriter, and CEO of Salamander Pictures, speaking on what it takes to become a creator who works globally, from both a creative and a business perspective. Sakurai debuted as a screenwriter on Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and later served as a director on Netflix's anime creative team.
The event runs in person only at Tokyo Innovation Base 2F STAGE in Marunouchi, with no online stream. Admission is free, and a networking slot closes out the program. Entry to the venue requires downloading the TIB app and registering an account in advance.
About the community
The venue is a startup support hub in Marunouchi that regularly hosts demo days, pitches, and talk sessions tied to Tokyo's incubation and founder programs. This session is aimed at creators in anime and manga alongside producers, content companies, and investors interested in commercializing creative work, with a networking slot after the presentations. Admission is free, though venue entry requires registering an account in the dedicated app.
