Summary
The first session of a beginner workshop series at TIB FAB on the 2nd floor of Tokyo Innovation Base (TIB), teaching how AI works from the ground up. Using Google Colab to run Python in the browser, it traces the development of AI from the Turing test through the perceptron to multi-layer neural networks, combining lecture and hands-on implementation.
Participants build a simple rule-based chatbot with conditional logic, train a perceptron on AND and OR and see why a single-layer model cannot solve XOR, then train a multi-layer network on XOR with backpropagation in PyTorch while visualizing the loss. Aimed at programming beginners and anyone curious about how generative AI works. Free, 5 seats, ages 15 and up; bring a laptop and a Google account. Conducted in Japanese.
About the community
A hands-on workshop series run by a digital fabrication and maker space inside Tokyo's public innovation hub. Sessions are small-group, held in Japanese, and aimed mainly at people new to programming and AI, combining short lectures with practical exercises across a multi-part course.
