Summary
An English-language seminar on why deep tech innovation depends on collaboration across disciplines. Universities and research institutes hold strong research and technology, but turning it into products, services and businesses takes researchers working with engineers, companies, startups, designers and business people. The talk covers what multidisciplinary collaboration means, why it matters now, the gap between good research and real-world deployment, and concrete examples of innovation coming out of cross-disciplinary teams.
The speaker is Im Sunyoung, an educator at Osaka Metropolitan University working on entrepreneurship and industry-academia education. A 30-minute seminar is followed by 30 minutes of networking where participants share their research fields and interests. Aimed at students, researchers, people in deep tech fields such as engineering, medicine, biotech and AI, and companies interested in research partnerships. Held at Tokyo Innovation Base 1F, free, capacity 40.
